A Different Kind of Dance Floor...

When I was being told about a recent family party I heard about a really cool idea that had never occurred to me. The dj company that did this party created a dance floor out of bubble wrap. Now I know what you're thinking, how is this possible?

Well I’ll be honest, I do not know but the thought of it is making me curious.

All you really need for this is a big dance floor and a lot of bubble wrap. Cover the floor as completely as you want and just get everyone interested in trying it to take off their shoes. Once done get everyone jumping around to the music.

Just a warning but this will cause A LOT of noise most likely, especially if you have a big group.

If you decide to give it a try, check out for some accessories to add to the dance floor like disco balls or black light accessories.

The most impressive New Years Bash ever !

I am an avid supporter of the New Years tradition, huge fan. But I also think of myself as a fairly big moocher when it comes to soaking up the atmosphere and enjoyment that others have so painstakingly planned. It was time to give back to the New Years community. This year I’m taking the bull by the horns and planning the greatest and most impressive New Years Bash that my friends have ever seen. Sure, they’ll shower me with praise and tales will be told of what a magical New Years host I was, but other than that it’s a completely selfless act.

Once I had made the commitment and let the invitations rain down freely on just about everyone I knew, it occurred to me that I was perhaps in a little over my head. It was time to face reality, I was after all just a New Years newbie, I lacked experience and I knew it.

Thankfully I work here at where New Years is kind of a big deal.

Planning for your New Years celebration really couldn’t be easier. When it comes to essentials we need to think about New Years Kits. Kits are your complete New Years solution in a box and can be an absolute life saver. PartMart offers a large and distinct variety of New Years Kits to accommodate groups from 10 to 50 to 100 people. PartyMart also hosts an impressive selection of hats, glasses, noisemakers, barware and other party favors to complete your classy New Years celebration.

Visit our New Years section at for more information about how PartyMart can help you plan your next New Years Party or if you’re just looking for some finishing touches for that perfect New Years Eve.

Have a little elfish fun this Christmas...

Elves are known to be tiny, dwarf-like creatures, either male or female, with pointed ears. They are youthful but immortal and have magical powers that can control what you see and experience. Their houses are said to be underground, in forests, or in springs and wells, but no one really knows )except Partymart) about it because they keep their location a secret!

It is also believed that on the 6th of January the elves light up their torches and come down from their secret village in the mountain to play in a hidden field to celebrate the last day of Christmas.

But do you know who these elves are?

At one stage it was thought that the elves lived in Father Christmas' (Santa's) village in the North Pole. However, many years ago it was discovered that there are no reindeer in the North Pole, but there are lots in Lapland, Finland.

Since reindeers draw the sleigh of Santa Claus, he must be living in an area, where there are large number of Reindeer.

Since then, it is believed that there is a secret village with a secret passage, somewhere in Lapland, where Santa, his wife and his team of elves live. Nobody has actually seen their village because the passage to it is a secret that is known only to Father Christmas and the elves. But people believe that it is somewhere on the Korvatunturi mountain in the Savukoski county of Lapland, Finland, which is on the Finnish-Russian border.

Some people think that Santa employs six elves, while others think that he has nine elf assistants. Others think that there are as many as 13 elves living with Santa to help him. Elves are very clever. They help Santa to design toys and process requests of children that are sent to them through snail mail or emails.

Of the six popular Elves, we know of;

Elf 1. Alabaster Snowball (Administrator of the Naughty & Nice list).

Elf 2. Bushy Evergreen (Inventor of the magic toy-making machine).

Elf 3. Pepper Minstix (Guardian of the secret of where Father Christmas's village is located).

Elf 4. Shinny Upatree (The oldest friend of Santa and the co-founder of the secret village in Lapland).

Elf 5. Sugarplum Mary (Head of the Sweet Treats, she is also known as Mary Christmas. She is an assistant to Mrs. Claus and helps her in the kitchen).

Elf 6. Wunorse Openslae (Designer of Father Christmas's sleigh and responsible for its maintenance. He also looks after the reindeers and it is believed that his reindeers reach speeds faster than Christmas tree lights).

With all the Elf Costumes and accessories Partymart has in store for you on our web site, you could be any of the Elves this Christmas.

The History of Halloween - Part Four.

In our final posting on the history of Halloween, by the 800s, the influence of Christianity had spread into Celtic lands. In the seventh century, Pope Boniface IV designated November 1 All Saints' Day, a time to honor saints and martyrs.

Check out our priests costumes here >

The celebration was also called All-hallows or All-hallowmas. The night before it, the night of Samhain, began to be called All-hallows Eve and, eventually, Halloween.

Even later, in A.D. 1000, the church would make November 2 All Souls' Day, a day to honor the dead. It was celebrated similarly to Samhain, with big bonfires, parades, and dressing up in costumes as saints, angels, and devils.

So, there you have it. Partymart’s four part posting on the origins of Halloween. Hopefully by now, you’ve already got your costume picked out and ordered. If not, it’s never too late at Partymart.

Check out our web site for how we can meet virtually any delivery schedule your procrastination has caused… >

The History of Halloween - Part 3

Did you know that by A.D. 43, the Romans had conquered the majority of Celtic territory. In the course of the four hundred years that they ruled the Celtic lands, two festivals of Roman origin were combined with the traditional Celtic celebration of Samhain.

The first was Feralia, a day in late October when the Romans traditionally commemorated the passing of the dead. The second was a day to honor Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruit and trees. The symbol of Pomona is the apple and the incorporation of this celebration into Samhain probably explains the tradition of "bobbing" for apples that is practiced today on Halloween.

To Boo or not to Boo...

Everyone knows that small children are easily frightened. Don’t let this deter you from having a little fun this Halloween when those thrill seekers come looking for candy at your door. I’m not saying that you should do anything absurd; clearly the guy hiding in the bushes is no longer an acceptable part of society. But there are a few nice little touches that will have the little ones checking their nerves as they march toward your door.

Yard and house decorations are important.

You’ve carved your pumpkin for maximum fear inducement and scattered your fake spider webs carefully over the real ones, but now what? How about a nice thick fog rolling out carelessly towards the street, some skeletons dancing in the wind beneath your tree branches, or a 6 foot Freddy Kreuger standing guard at your door? Turn your place into a masterpiece of Halloween decoration; let them know that only the brave ones would dare ask you for candy.

You’ve got to dress up to really pull it off, so grab a costume and enjoy the excuse to wear one. Most other days won’t tolerate you as a Ghost Pirate or an Evil Witch, so take advantage of it, and remember to be generous with the candy as well as the terror.

And don't foget, Partymart is here to help you make those Hallowen fantasies come alive October 31... which is coming up soon.

The History of Halloween - Part 2.

Did you know that during the original celebrations from which Halloween has evolved, the Celts wore costumes, typically consisting of animal heads and skins, and attempted to tell each other's fortunes.

When the celebration was over, they re-lit their hearth fires, which they had extinguished earlier that evening, from the sacred bonfire to help protect them during the coming winter.

Something those characters Fred Flintstone or Barney Rubble may be likely found doing.

Check out those costumes here >

The History of Halloween - Part 1 of a 4 part series...

Did you know that Halloween's origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in).

The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in what is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1. This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter. Celts believed that on the night before the New Year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred.

Ooooooh… what a great beginning for the legend of Halloween, huh ?

On the night of October 31, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. They built bonfires and partied long into the night…

Our Ghostbusters Costumes lets you slink off into the night this Halloween to extinguish those ghosts and goblins. Check them out here >

Olympics Time

Since we can't all be going to the Olymipics in China, it might be fun to have a party and invite friends / family over to watch the different events. has tons of novelties for sports themed parties.

You can use gold ball lite cubes instead of ice cubes for drinks or even for lighting up the rooms.

When it comes to making a lot of noise cheering for your countries team nothing beats a maraca, horn or clapper shapped like a baseball or basketball. You can use the lanyards or sunglasses for door prizes or gifts if you want to make bets on who wins the medals.

Another fun idea is to have gumball machines so everyone can help themselves to snacks.

I'd also suggest wearing a hat or lanyard showing off your nations flag in case anyone forgets who your cheering for.

In all, any Olympic themed party is possible if you go to

Out with the old... in with the new !

I was given the enviable task of updating the showroom this week. What is the showroom you ask, well it’s essentially a room where the floor is a different color and party supplies crowd every inch of wall to dazzle our customers.

It’s a difficult task – organizing items that are incredibly tempting to use myself.

I will share with you the following information I have learned: I cannot pull off aviator sunglasses, my chops on the inflatable guitar are unparalleled and I look spectacular in a gold sequin top hat. Perhaps I’ve said too much, perhaps not enough.

Now let’s face it, we sell a lot of great products, but they can’t all be winners. This was the occasion where we had to retire some of our less popular products - old friends who just weren’t getting the job done anymore. It was a sad day, but in this case, saying goodbye also means saying hello to some sweet new items that will be hitting the website shortly.

Keep your eyes open for some great new products at

It's Luau Bar B Q Season...

With the BBQ season finally here... now is a great time to try and spruce up the settings. You should check out the Luau section at for some fun ideas.

I don't know about you but for my graduation BBQ, I am going to decorate the tables with some flowered table skirts much like those seen on the site. Everyone will be wearing some flowered leis to add some festiveness to the occasion.

Now my party is going to be in the afternoon but if you want a night time BBQ there are plenty of light up leis and table skirts.

Some inflatable bars and coolers would be great if the parties outside but we also have trees and a sun to create the outdoor effect indoors.

So whatever kind of BBQ you have, make it a fun time for everyone.

Make it a PartyMart BBQ.

Rockband theme at your next party!!!

Rockband seems to be getting more and more popularity everyday. It’s unbelievable…

The game is relatively simple in theory. All you need to do is form a band (no experience necessary). The band members include a vocalist and three musicians (guitar, base and drums). So assuming you’ve bought the game and have the Playstation or Xbox, all you need to do is form a band…

I thought it was worth a post after watching a Rockband competition the other night. It was simply amazing how involved a bunch of 20 somethings got into the game. About 40 guests formed multiple 4 member bands, many of the musicians joined multiple bands to mix it up. Very cool and very successful. It’s a great idea for birthdays and other types of parties. This game will definitely be replacing board games.

Rock ON!!!

For more information on the game visit the official website at

Also if you want to take it to another level, shop for some great costume accessories listed below:

Rock star wigs

Rock star sunglasses

General rock and roll supplies.

Rock out at your next party!

The Goodie Bag by Matthew Ellyett

As a young boy, I considered myself somewhat of a connoisseur of the grade school birthday party scene.

Not because I was popular, but because at that age, if there was a birthday party, my mother would find a way to get me invited just to take me off her hands for a couple of hours.

Now don’t get me wrong, I was a great kid.

And like any great kid, I had a sweet spot for the finer things in life. Cake, presents and carnival games all did a good job of putting a smile on my face, but the real magic happened at the end of the party. It is known by many names: the Goodie Bag, Loot Bag and Travelers Delight are just a few. It was a little something on the way out the door to let the kids know that the party wasn’t quite over.

The trick to a sweet Goodie Bag is variety and surprise, give them enough to keep them busy and don’t be afraid to mix things up. To be safe, steer clear of any candy or foods to avoid complications with allergies and remember that toothbrushes do not make good party favors. The most important thing to keep in mind is that it’s supposed to be enjoyable for both you and the kids.

For Goodie Bag ideas check out our store for affordable options on noise-makers, accessories and party prizes to make your child’s Goodie Bag and party a success.

Remember, if for no other reason, the Goodie Bag gives weird kids a reason to get out of your nice house.

David Roth does Prom...

David Roth writes, "Now that prom and reunion season is coming up on us, its fun to try and find something to help you stand out.

It's easy to use a couple little things to really spruce up a get up.

For my graduation party, instead of going with a date, I went with a couple of friends draped in red boas while I wore a top hat and a cane. White gloves are, of course, optional. For me, I just figured it would be over doing it a bit and I didn't want to take the spotlight away from my two friends (although I seem to have misplaced my top hat here).

However, walking onto a dance floor with someone on each arm will definitely get you remembered.

The main thing is to have a lot of fun and not to forget it’s supposed to be a fun night".

Planning a bachelorette party (stagette) for your best friend or sister?

If not, remember to be responsible. Below you'll find a link where there are all sorts of suggested rules, remember its everyones responsibility. A swimming pool can be fun and it can be dangerous.

Here's some
suggested pool rules
